Slab City, California is located near the Salton Sea, less than 200 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The former WWII marine base provides alternative housing solutions for a diverse community of approximately 800, depending on time of year. The 2-minute video presents an overview of the area and the Salvation Mountain / East Jesus art installations that bookend the encampment. The piece was produced to accompany this High & Dry story syndicated on PBS SoCal's Artbound, October 2024.
